There are some deformed people affected by this disease across the country. Violence against women has increased in the country. The government is not able to save and protect women from this even by making laws. So women should learn self defense techniques to get rid of it.

Recently, many women have turned to learning self-defense techniques to protect their dignity. Learning self-defense techniques such as Kung Fu or Karate, Taekwondo, Chinese Kung Fu and Shatakan Karate and Wushu.

Her mission is to teach self-defense techniques to women across the country. Work has already started. The indomitable dreamer spoke to timesofbangla. Interviewed by Omar faruq –

Youngsters like you usually want to go for cricket, football and other popular sports. What is your story of getting into boxing and kung fu or karate?

Tamanna: The reason behind coming to boxing is that I have always seen sports since my childhood. But watching boxing, then wrestling especially wrestling inspired me to get into boxing.

Then when I watch wrestling means from childhood my love, interest and desire to get into boxing is created.

What was your childhood dream?

Tamanna : My childhood dream was to become an army officer. Now that I have moved into the boxing profession. And I studied fashion design. So it turns out that since childhood I have always had and still have an attraction to boxing and then fight related games.

How did you get into the world of sports?

Tamanna: I have been involved in sports since childhood. When I was in school, there was no boxing for girls in Bangladesh. And boxing for girls in Bangladesh has probably started since 2012. So when I heard that boxing for girls has started in Bangladesh, I started boxing since 2012.

Were there any obstacles in the beginning?

Tamanna: Whenever I advance in any work. Be it good or bad deeds. You have to face various difficulties and obstacles. Where a girl is learning something fight related. You call it boxing, you call it kung fu karate, in the context of our country, many people do not see it in a positive way.

Because everyone has a different perspective. In that case, I also had to face many obstacles. Not that I can progress very easily yet. There will be obstacles on the way in life. You have to go ahead with courage to overcome all obstacles.

What will you say about the experience of suffering?

Tamanna: It happened in February 2022. “We are local residents of Dhaka’s Kachukshet Cantonment. We have been here since the time of our fathers and grandfathers. Five years ago we contracted with a builders company to build a house on five acres of land. But they did not work according to the time given to them. Their term ends on January 27. We go to the police station with it. But they bought the OC of the police station with money. The OC also did not help. He spoke directly for the terrorists. We interact with local commissioners and other dignitaries. No one helped.

Earlier when terrorists attacked our house, we went to the police station to file a case. But they did not take any case. The OC then said, we will not take any of your cases. I will not listen to you. You get out of here.

20-30 people attacked my house three to four days ago. At that time we call the police station. But they didn’t come. After calling 999, they came and helped us like that day.

How important do you think it is for women to learn martial arts in this country?

Tamanna: Of course, it is very important for women in Bangladesh to learn self-defense techniques. Because in the context of today’s society, women need to be more secure. Self-defense techniques will play a very important role in protecting yourself from various types of violence. Kung Fu training will play an immense role in reducing the rate of rape in the country. But rape will be eradicated only then; When men’s mentality will change.

Since I did boxing. Now I am not boxing for now. And if we see something good in professional boxing in the future. Professional boxing started in Bangladesh. Which is not national.

What are your expectations in this struggle?

Tamanna: I want to convey my expectations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They are – teaching self defense or martial arts instead of physical education classes in education gazette. So that women’s rights, development and safety can be ensured. If it is included in the textbook, boys and girls can relate to it very easily. It is very important to learn it, if not as a profession, at least as a self-defense technique.

What dreams for the future?

Tamanna : I want to work on women and children development through sports. Also want to establish a sports school.
